St. Patrick’s Day Parade Coverage on YouTube

The above video is coverage of the St. Patrick’s Day parade in Dublin, hosted on YouTube.  I actually wasn’t far from here several days before, as my husband were in England until the 14th.  The accents of the announcers in this video remind me of one of the guys at the inn where we stayed for the first four nights of our trip — he was from Ireland and sounded almost just like this.  He always refered to us as “yous,” which cracked me up.  I guess “you” needs a plural form in Ireland!

The parade looks like a great one, although I rather suspect the coverage doesn’t do it justice.  Too bad we weren’t there for it, huh?  Look at all those people down there — there are crowd control barriers and temporary fence panels everywhere to hold them back.  According to this article, a mind-boggling 675,000 people showed up for the parade!

We didn’t really do anything interesting ourselves for St. Patrick’s Day.  We’d only been back in the United States for two full days, and the 17th was Michael’s last day off of work.  So we celebrated our last official day of vacation by going out for brunch, walking the dogs in the park, and just taking an easy day of it in general.

I doubt my Irish ancestors would think much of our “celebrations,” but we enjoyed them!
