Technology Advances for Low-Flying Photogrammetry

Photogrammetry is remote sensing technology used in aerial photography to get great accurate photos of the land from above. This technology has made it possible for more concise information to be gathered by people taking aerial photos so that the industries which use these types of photos can have the best information possible. Unfortunately, the technology is limited by regulations on aerial photography. Luckily, technological advances are being made in other areas that are making it possible to utilize this technology to its full potential.

One of the major limitations on taking aerial photos has been the fact that there are serious restrictions on allowing low-flying aircraft into the air. There are good reasons for these types of protections but they certainly hinder the ability to get great aerial photos. The technology simply can’t be used from too far away. As a result, images that are relatively small (houses as opposed to mountains) often can’t be easily photographed from above. However, there are new technological advances being made in the development of model airplanes which allow for great aerial photos to be taken from above without interfering with the regulations on low-flying full-size aircraft. With all industries moving forward in their advances, each one can benefit more than it would just by moving forward alone.
