Jewelry: a Fashionable Form of Magnetic Therapy
Posted by Profit on 09/24/08 in Health
The magnetic therapy industry in North America is big business, with sales of magnetic therapy devices for back pain relief and other benefits reaching $300 million in the United States alone. With all of the different types of magnet therapy products on the market, from patches, to mattresses, to cushions to shoe insoles, perhaps the most popular and most fashionable is jewelry.
Magnetized jewelry has become increasingly visible over the last few decades in everything from magazines, to pharmacies, to sports stores. However, the practice of wearing magnetic jewelry is in no way a new phenomenon. According to legend, Cleopatra wore a magnetized amulet around her forehead, which she believed would promote youthfulness.
Today’s magnetic jewelry is often used for pain management, but it’s also as fashionable as it is functional. (And, unlike copper, it won’t turn your skin green!) You can find bracelets that come in cuff designs which adjust to the size of your wrist, as well as chain links that clasp at the end. They are available in titanium, stainless steel, hematite, and Tungsten Carbide-a rare metal which can be permanently polished.
Magnetic pendants are also available in the same metals, and come in a wide variety of shapes and styles, from hearts and crosses to butterflies and stars. Magnetic jewelry can rival other forms of jewelry in terms of style, and also do something positive for your body at the same time.
