Wanted: Chesapeake Bay Retriever

Colorful flyers started appearing around the neighborhood where I live recently. Like most advertisements, at first I just ignored them. However, while waiting for a bus to take me downtown last week, I spent some time gazing over the various notices. On the most colorful of the posted paper was an ad that was inquiring to the disappearance of a Chesapeake Bay Retriever.

While I’d never heard of this breed, I took a long look at the beautiful animal that was pictured therein. It was an amazingly strong looking animal with various shades of brown and deep red tones to what appeared to be a thick, almost water repellent coat of fur.

Once I noticed this flyer, others began appearing with seeming causality. There were notices for cats, birds, even exotic tropical birds. How they ever planned on finding things that could fly far and wide was beyond me.

Other than the Retriever, the most intriguing notice was for a lovely Italian GreyHound. The picture showed the animal relative to a fire hydrant. While it was not doing what you’d think, the picture clearly showed just how tiny this dog truly was. I can almost imagine it getting lost easily under the wheels of a passing car.

As I boarded the bus, I hoped that all of these animals would be found by happy pet owners.
