Relaxation Techniques

In this stressful world, relaxation techniques are important to rejuvenate and recharge energy levels and peace of mind. In the age of constant communication, it is easy to forget to focus on mental health and finding time to relax and recharge. Plagued with cell phones ringing, emails binging and answering voicemails and taking meetings, from sun up until sun down we are constantly being bombarded with things we have to do. What about things that we should do? Making time to relax not only helps the mind, it helps the body.
Exercise is a great way to block daily responsibilities from your mind and focus on self. Yoga and Pilates are popular tools to strengthen the body and boasts benefits to the mind and spirit. Others enjoy jogging or running to clear their mind and tone their body.
For me, relaxation looks a little different. After a long, stressful day, I light soy candles all around my bathtub and relax in a steaming, hot bath. Whether reading a good book or enjoying a glass of wine, as the candle glow bounces off the walls, I begin to feel the effects of the day wash away. The aroma of the scented candles and the soaking bath takes the stress away and prepares me for the next day where I get to stress myself out all over again.
