What is Responsible Credit Card Use

There are lots of articles that spend time talking about poor credit card use, but very few take the time to talk about how to use credit cards (tarjetas de credito) responsibly. If you just opened up that new free credit card (tarjeta de credito gratis), you are probably quite excited and maybe even a little bit scared. If you aren’t careful, it could get you into trouble.

Responsible credit card use does happen, though. There are ways to use credit cards that can help a person grow financially. The first way to do this is just by controlling your spending. Simply put, if the money is not in your bank accounts, then you shouldn’t be spending it with credit.

Some people open up new bank accounts (cuentas bancarias) to take advantage of good offers. This is also true for new credit cards. If you are lucky enough to find them, there are credit cards out there that will give you the power to transfer balances for no interest. This means that you can have a check sent to you and you will owe no interest on that for a period of a few months. Over the course of time, you could invest that money into a safe savings account and make money during your introductory period. This is an interesting twist in how you should be looking at credit cards.
