Worth their Weight in Gold

The enamel on teeth is the hardest part of the human body, harder than any part of any other bone.  Teeth are built right into the skeletal structure.  Babies get their first set of teeth within a year of birth, and these “baby teeth” last until the earliest stages of puberty, when adult teeth replace them.  These adult teeth must last for the rest of the human’s life, because teeth are not regenerated after this second set.  That makes these teeth precious-after all, they’re used for eating, biting, speaking, and smiling.

Processed foods and refined sugars have been tough on the human teeth, and unfortunately, dentistry and dental hygiene were relatively primitive until recently.  Today, someone who cares for her mouth can expect to keep her teeth healthy and useful for her whole life.  Fillings and replacements are available for those who lose or damage teeth.

Dental whitening can correct discolored teeth.  But what if things weren’t so perfect from the start?  Many problems can develop while the baby or adult teeth grow in, some genetic, others environmental.  Today, misshapen teeth and jaws can be corrected quickly and relatively easily with porcelain veneers.  With modern technology and procedures, a smile makeover can be a quick and painless process.
