What I Wish I had Studied

When I was in school, I studied a lot of different topics. I spend a year studying film, another year studying literature, and two half years in the computer programming degree and computer animation degree programs. Eventually, I settled on Business and it hasn’t really done me much good – mainly because everyone seems to have a business degree and if I really wanted a job in the field, I would need to go back for my MBA, which is just not going to happen.
What I really wish I had done though was enroll in an IT degree program. These guys are making six figures in my building and half of them went to school for a fraction of what I did. Now, they don’t necessarily look very happy most of the time – I suppose 13 hour work days would probably do that to you, but I have to say, for that kind of money, I would figure out how to be happy. As it stands, I’m kind of stuck where I’m at, hoping that I can break free of the cubicle I’m in within the next three years. That’s not even a pessimistic goal, that’s the closest thing to optimism I have right now.
