Boys and Their Toys

I live in a small town in Virginia. Every year I work for a 4-H camp for kids 9 to 13 years of age. We have counselors known as Teen Leaders that serve as mentors and temporary guardians for the kids during the week of camp. I am in charge of the males of the groups and have been for many years. It’s funny watching some of these teen leaders come down to the camp in their trucks and the different types of pickup truck accessories they put on them.
One of the things that I find most amusing on these trucks is bull bars. These are basically glorified bumper extensions that help to protect the front end of the truck. Of course, I am not sure why they are named after a bull when most make the truck look like a boar.
Hella lights are another common accessory that I see on these trucks. A lot of the guys think that it’s cool to have this uber-bright flood light on their truck. They like to shine it around at night if we will let them. It is against the rules for teens to be at their vehicles during the week of camp so we have to put a quick stop to it.
