Did you know that problems with sleeping at night can have a seriously adverse affect on relationships? A common problem among couples is that one person snores loudly and often. This snoring keeps the other person awake at night and prevents him or her from getting adequate sleep. At best, this can be annoying. At worst it can mean that the sleepless party is tired, grumpy and irritable all of the time. It’s not good for couples to be in this position.
There are many different causes of snoring at night. One that tends to affect relationships the most is a condition called sleep apnea. Someone who has sleep apnea finds it difficult to breathe at night. This results in a number of things including snoring. Not only does the snoring wake up the significant other; the condition also makes the person who has it tired throughout the day.
Treating sleep apnea can improve your relationship. If you get a sleep apnea machine (better known as a CPAP machine) then you’ll be able to breathe throughout the night. You’ll get the sleep you need. Since your partner doesn’t have to listen to you snore anymore, he or she will get enough sleep as well. You’ll both be happier and your relationship will benefit.
Starting a Photography Business

The other night, my father-in-law and I were talking about the finer points of starting a business. As a freelance writer, I am self-employed, and he owned his own office cleaning company for 20 years, so both of us are familiar with the things that need to be done in order to start a business.
If you are interesting in starting a photography business, of course the first thing to do is to make sure you know how to take professional pictures. Here is a tutorial, but if you should also consider taking classes. While you may be able to learn photography on your own via years of study and practice, if you are looking to start a business you need to learn it NOW.
Keep your receipts for any expenses, as you can and should deduct your business expenses from your gross income. This includes the cost of classes, your camera, film and developing or memory cards (depending on whether your camera is film or digital), and even your camera bag.
Marketing is also very important when starting a business. You have to have clients in order to make money, and you have to have a way of marketing yourself in order to get clients. A website with a resume and portfolio is a must. You may also want to look for websites, local coffee shops, etc. where you can showcase your photography.
Starting a photography business is actually the easy part — the real test is whether you can keep it going. That will take more than just skill at taking pictures — you will need a strong business sense, dedication, and the ability to manage your business finances!
Just the Boat Accessories I Needed

One of the most frustrating things about my wife is that she teases me about anything I buy. For the most part, I don’t really spend a lot of money on anything, so I guess she takes advantage of what opportunities that are presented to her, but when it comes to me buying boat accessories, she really gives it to me.
I guess I can’t really blame her, considering we don’t have a boat, but I have a boat listed as one of my major purchases in my five year plan, so it just makes sense to me to buy the things that I will need when I do get the boat of my dreams.
Besides, I don’t make fun of her when she buys scrapbooking supplies or any of the five million (yes, a bit of an exaggeration) candles that we seem to have in our home. I let her spend her money where she wants to, so I don’t see why she doesn’t let me do the same.
Looking at the things I have bought up to this point makes me feel like I am one step closer to having that boat of my dreams. Thankfully, so far my patience has held out.

Becoming the Group Leader

I have worked very hard over the last couple of years without anyone noticing and I have been disappointed. For whatever reason, I have been passed up for promotion after promotion and everyone has ignored me. But, that never stopped my dedication to my job and the hope that I would be recognized one day.
It wasn’t until the new district manager came to our shop that I was finally noticed. He asked if I could help him with setting up the group management software package that all of the branches were switching over to. I was honored to be asked and it took just a couple of days to do it.
Imagine my surprise when he asked me to be the group leader of the sales team at our branch. I was ecstatic to be given the opportunity, but I had to ask him why he was chosen. He responded that he had seen on my last couple of reviews that I had experience managing teams (specifically I coached little league), and that being a group leader wouldn’t be much different.
Well, that was just two weeks ago and I have settled into the role of being group leader. I think this is the role that I was born to do.
