Reasons to Hire a Wedding Planner

You are going to get married sometime within the next year and that means that you have a whole wedding to plan. It used to be that couples would do this themselves or with the help of friends and family. However, couples these days almost always hire a wedding planner to assist them with preparing for the event.

Here are some good reasons to think about hiring a wedding planner:

  • Organization. The wedding planner knows what should be taken care of and in what order it needs to be done.
  • Simplification. The process of wedding planning is made a lot easier when someone knows who to call and how to ask for things.
  • Decision-making. The wedding planner can take care of some decisions for you. For example if you couldn’t care less whether the wedding invitations are tiger lily wedding invitations or frangipani wedding invitations then the planner can just decide for you.
  • Saves money. Most people think a wedding planner adds costs but they can get good deals and do cost comparisons that you may not do so you can actually save money with a wedding planner.

Mostly, you want your wedding to go without a hitch and the wedding planner can give you peace of mind to believe that is going to happen.

My Vacation Packing List

I love going on vacation, whether it’s an all inclusive vacation or just a road trip to visit my husband’s family.  It’s a great feeling to get away, even if we’re not going that far!  However, I tend to worry a lot about forgetting to bring something important.

For all my worrying — or perhaps because of all my worrying — I’ve rarely forgotten anything that important.  I think part of it is due to a trick I got from my dad — making a list in the weeks before I pack of everything I will need, adding to it as I think of things, and then following that list when I finally pack.  This helps me to make sure that I not only pack my clothes and clean underwear, but that I also get all of the little miscellaneous things I want to be sure to bring.

I think it’s also helpful to make a list of all the things I have to do before we go.  For example, if I have to book a vacation hotel or book a car rental on vacation, both of those things go on the list to make sure they get done in plenty of time.  Laundry is also always on this list, to make sure that all the clothes I want are clean before I pack — and to make sure that I don’t come home to a bunch of dirty laundry, in addition to what’s in my suitcase!

Insurance To Get When You Own a Business

There are many things that you have to think about when you own a business. One of those things is insurance. There are several different types of insurance that you should get in order to protect yourself and your business from harm. The specific types of insurance that you’ll need will depend upon the type of business that you operate.

For example, let’s say that you are a dentist or a doctor with your own small practice. You should have several different types of insurance including:

  • Malpractice insurance. Doctors get sued all of the time. The lawsuits are often frivolous but they can be costly. Make sure that you are insured.
  • Building insurance. You want the building where you operate your practice to be covered for insurance.
  • Equipment insurance. Medical equipment is very expensive so you want to make sure that it is covered in case of theft or vandalism.
  • Disability insurance. You should get dentist disability insurance or physician disability insurance to protect yourself in case you become unable to work. You should also ask the disability insurance companies about an overhead expense policy which helps to fund the business and pay your staff while you’re not working.

These are just a few of the types of insurance that you’re going to need to get for this specific career. Make sure that you consider all of the risks involved in your business and that you pay to get them covered before there is a problem.

Making a Car Cute for Cheap

I had more than half a dozen cars before the age of 21. They were all clunkers. And I loved each and every one of them for as long as they would keep on getting me to and from the places where I wanted to spend my time.

One of the things that I really loved to do was to personalize these cars. I wanted to feel like they were all mine. Here are some of the things that I did to make my cars cute despite the fact that they were all lemons:

  • Added bumper stickers. It’s the most obvious way to personalize a car. Many of the personalized birthday gifts that I got over the years were unique personalized gifts of bumper stickers with inside jokes on them from my friends.
  • Covered the seats with personalized blankets. The upholstery in many of these cars was gross but that didn’t mean people had to know about it!
  • Hung necklaces and trinkets from the rearview mirror. I changed these out just about every other week for awhile!

Your car is a really personal thing that you spend a lot of time in. Why not do what you can to make it cute even if you don’t have a lot of money for fancy paint jobs and custom wheels?

Candles as Wedding Décor

I attended a wedding recently, and was enamored by he wedding décor! The couple had managed to create a fairytale wedding, and all, it seemed, within a reasonable budget. There were fresh flowers, swathes of swishy silk decorating the hall, and of course, dozens of gorgeous scented jar candles glowing gently in the evening.

I wanted to share a few of the decorating tips I saw at the wedding.

The scented candles were all the same color as the color theme for the wedding with a few white candles thrown in. It created a welcome change from seeing the same color everywhere, and actually looked quite magical!

The jar candles were all infused with the kind of romantic scents that best capture a wedding mood. There was just a hint of sensual rose, traces of chrysanthemum symbolizing love, violet symbolizing fidelity, with accents of honeysuckle signifying devotion. All these scents combined beautifully to create warm layers of fresh and light scents that wafted through the air, adding romance to an already magical evening!

The fragrance from the candles was accentuated by the essence of flesh blooms of matching flowers, all over the venue. The scent of the flowers was subtle, and not overpowering, adding to the lovely fragrance at the venue.
